ANP's Federal Minister complains of PM’s interference
PESHAWAR: Protesting against the reported interference of the prime minister in his ministry, the Federal Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has warned he would not attend any meeting of the federal cabinet till his meeting with his party’s chief Asfandyar Wali Khan.
Hoti said the prime minister had made appointments to senior posts in his ministry despite his letters cautioning him not to make such appointments without his consultation. By doing so, he said, the prime minister wanted to make him a useless member of the cabinet, which he will never accept.
The prime minister, he said, had bypassed him while making appointments in his ministry when he was on a foreign tour. He said he would draw his future line of action after meeting his party leader and supporters within next few days.
The sources told The News that he was talking to different delegations, which called on him at his Peshawar residence on Friday on his arrival from USA.
Hoti said in case his grievances were not properly addressed, he might tender resignation from the federal cabinet. The emotionally charged Hoti said he would not hesitate to resign from the membership of the National Assembly in case he found that his sitting in the federal cabinet was useless.
The minister said he had joined politics to serve the masses and in case the government was unable to restore law and order, control price hike and inflation as well as unemployment, he would prefer to sit with the masses instead of sitting in the parliament.
Hoti said in case he felt that he has been kept in the Federal Cabinet to have a flag hoisted on his car and all the decisions about his ministry were being made somewhere else, he will resign from the cabinet without any hesitation because such minister ship makes no difference for him and his family.
He said he comes from a family where such “flags and cars” were not new and they have been enjoying it from generations. He told the delegation he had taken his only son for treatment abroad but will never claim reimbursement of the expenses incurred on, as he had never done so in the past.
Hoti said he would follow the decision of his party and his absence from the cabinet would not make any difference in case of President’s impeachment.
