ISLAMABAD: PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari summoned a joint meeting of the Central Executive Committee members and members of the Executive Committee from the Punjab at the Zardari House today to formulate a counter strategy if their coalition partner, PML-N opted for an exit.
The meeting, which was presided over by Asif Ali Zardari, is said to have discuss the party's working relationship with PML-N, especially in Punjab, sources revealed.
Sources close to PPP Leadership said on the condition of anonimity that the meeting was convened to discuss the possibility of forming a coalition government with PML (Q) incase the PML (N) opts to part ways with the PPP because of judges issue.
"We (PPP) are looking at ways to bring PML(Q) into the reconciliation process that 'Shaheed Rani' Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Started" said the source.
The is also said to have discussed the working of PPP Punjab in the absense of its President Makhdoon Shah Mahmood Quraishi who became the Foreign Minister in the new setup. PPP Punjab is said to have suffered alot as the Second in command Ch. Ghulam Abbas, Sec General of PPP Punjab is powerless and is not authorised to take any decisions without the consent of the president.
A major reshuffle is expected in PPP Punjab leadership as the party work is suffering due to the non availability of its President Mr. Shah Mahmood Quraishi.
